Triton Robotics @ UCSD

Recruitment

Winter applications will be open until the end of week 1 winter quarter; you can apply here

A MESSAGE FROM OUR TEAM

We are always looking to welcome new dedicated and talented members to our team. Our main recruitment periods are Summer, Fall, and Winter. Summer recruitment occurs a couple weeks after our RMUL competition, while Fall and Winter occur during weeks 1-2. During these periods, we are able to conduct a formal recruitment process, from training, skill evaluation and to full member induction. During main recruitment periods, you will see a button linked to a google form above. Inquiries during any other time will be considered a part of rolling recruitment but are unlikely. We accept students with and without prior robotics or engineering experience. During some cycle, we’ll have an info session. Current slides are provided here

Triton Robotics is proud to announce that the mechanical training program is going public starting this Summer. For those entering college without prior engineering experience, finding resources to learn technical skills can be intimidating. That's why we want to help other MAE majors even if they don't end up joining our club. This folder contains our mechanical guide, and all slides and practice problems are made public. If something was not made public, let me know and I can correct it. (Disclaimer: you will need a UCSD account to access this)

The recruitment team want to clarify if an applicant finishes the entire mechanical guide, it will not add any significant weight to your application if you were to apply in the future other than obviously showing you have experience with SolidWorks, etc. Triton Robotics will continue to accept those without prior experience in engineering/robotics.

OUR GOALS

To create a robotics community and team where students can apply their knowledge in real applications, beyond the classroom
To offer the opportunity for beginners to learn and grow as well as provide a challenging environment for the experienced to gain industry transferable skills

THE GENERAL PROCESS

Open Applications (Week 1-2):

We will release a Google Form asking for basic information, a resume, an optional introduction video, and any other relevant work or experience.

Acceptances (1 Week):

Rolling email acceptances will begin and sometimes in two cycles.

Trainee Program (3-4 Weeks):

Students accepted will start a training program where they will learn necessary skills to succeed in the club. Mechanical members learn SolidWorks, SolidWorks Simulation, Sketching, Design for Manufacturing, and more. Electrical and Software members may learn topics pertaining to C/C++, ROS 2, the STM32 board, OpenCV, and more.

Capstone Project (Time Can Vary):

After completing the trainee program, recruits will be assigned a capstone project by their subteam lead. Topics and length of time can vary. Recruits are strongly encouraged to tell their lead what skills they want to work on. At the end, recruits will make and present their project to the club.
